The Broadway/West End corridor consists of important employment, cultural, educational and residential areas and is home to 170,000 employees, 25,000 residents and 11 million visitors. More than 17 percent of the households in the corridor do not have a car. Without transit improvements, traffic is anticipated to increase nearly 50 percent by 2035, and travelers will be stuck in traffic approximately eight minutes longer than they are today. Currently, the average person in the Nashville area loses about 35 hours and wastes 10 gallons of fuel per year sitting in traffic. The AMP will connect these areas, bringing new synergy and laying the foundation for future public transit development.
